📨 Sending a Fax via Email (Faxmail)

Learn how to send a fax using Kiwi VoIP's eFax service with these simple steps.

With Kiwi VoIP Faxmail, you can send faxes directly from your email — no physical fax machine required. All you need is a registered Kiwi VoIP fax number and a PDF, PostScript, or TIFF file to attach.

✅ Before You Start

Make sure you’ve already:

  • Signed up for a Kiwi VoIP fax number

  • Configured your fax receiving settings (see related article)

🛠️ Step 1: Authorise Your Email for Fax Sending

  1. Log into the Kiwi VoIP Portal:

  2. Go to your Fax Number Settings

  3. Click Faxmail Sending Options

  4. In the Faxmail Sending Options screen:

    • ✅ Enter the email address(es) allowed to send faxes via this number
      (Multiple addresses supported)

    • Set retry count and retry delay (e.g. retry 3 times, wait 5 minutes between)

    • (Optional) Add a passphrase requirement to the Subject line for added security

❗ If your email is not authorised correctly, your fax will be rejected.

📨 Step 2: Compose & Send Your Fax

Once your email is authorised, follow these steps:

  1. Compose a new email from an authorised email address

  2. Attach your document in one of the supported formats:

    • .PDF

    • .PS (PostScript)

    • .TIFF

  3. In the To field, enter:

    typescript
    CopyEdit
    <fax-number>@fax.kiwivoip.co.nz

    Example:

    css
    CopyEdit
    099749000@fax.kiwivoip.co.nz
  4. You can send to multiple fax numbers by adding more recipients (CC/BCC or To)

  5. (Optional) If you've set a fax passphrase, include it in the Subject line

  6. Hit Send

🧾 What Happens Next?

  • You’ll receive a confirmation email when the fax is successfully delivered

  • If the fax fails, you’ll receive a failure notification with error details
