📨 Sending a Fax via Email (Faxmail)
Learn how to send a fax using Kiwi VoIP's eFax service with these simple steps.
With Kiwi VoIP Faxmail, you can send faxes directly from your email — no physical fax machine required. All you need is a registered Kiwi VoIP fax number and a PDF, PostScript, or TIFF file to attach.
✅ Before You Start
Make sure you’ve already:

Signed up for a Kiwi VoIP fax number

Configured your fax receiving settings (see related article)
🛠️ Step 1: Authorise Your Email for Fax Sending

Log into the Kiwi VoIP Portal:
👉 https://portal.kiwivoip.co.nz -
Go to your Fax Number Settings

Click Faxmail Sending Options

In the Faxmail Sending Options screen:

✅ Enter the email address(es) allowed to send faxes via this number
(Multiple addresses supported) -
Set retry count and retry delay (e.g. retry 3 times, wait 5 minutes between)

(Optional) Add a passphrase requirement to the Subject line for added security

❗ If your email is not authorised correctly, your fax will be rejected.
📨 Step 2: Compose & Send Your Fax
Once your email is authorised, follow these steps:

Compose a new email from an authorised email address

Attach your document in one of the supported formats:

.PDF

.PS
(PostScript) -
.TIFF

In the To field, enter:
typescriptCopyEdit<fax-number>@fax.kiwivoip.co.nz
Example:
cssCopyEdit099749000@fax.kiwivoip.co.nz

You can send to multiple fax numbers by adding more recipients (CC/BCC or To)

(Optional) If you've set a fax passphrase, include it in the Subject line

Hit Send
🧾 What Happens Next?

You’ll receive a confirmation email when the fax is successfully delivered

If the fax fails, you’ll receive a failure notification with error details
