🤖 AI Auto Attendant Setup Guide

The Kiwi VoIP AI Auto Attendant adds smart voice recognition to your call flow, allowing callers to simply speak who or what they’re calling about — no need to "press 1" or "press 2".

Instead of navigating menus, callers can say things like:

“I need to speak to accounts”
“Can I talk to someone in sales?”

The system will recognise keywords and route the call to the appropriate destination — giving your business a modern, professional feel.


🗣️ How AI Auto Attendant Works

  • Uses speech recognition to match spoken keywords with your configured extension options

  • If the caller’s response matches, the call is routed to that destination

  • If there’s no match, a retry message is played

  • If retries fail, the system falls back to the standard Auto Attendant (DTMF) menu


🔊 Required Voice Prompts

You’ll need to record three prompts to use the AI Auto Attendant.

Prompt Type Star Code Description
Default IVR Prompt *22 Standard auto attendant prompt (e.g. “Press 1 for Sales, 2 for Support…”)
AI Voice Prompt *26 Prompts caller to speak their request (e.g. “Tell us who you'd like to talk to.”)
AI Failure Prompt *28 Played if voice input isn’t recognised (e.g. “Sorry, we didn’t catch that…”)
 

You can record these via the portal or by dialling the star codes from a device registered to the number you’re configuring.


🔁 AI Auto Attendant Call Flow

  1. Caller hears the AI voice prompt

  2. System listens for speech input

  3. If input matches a configured option, the call is routed

  4. If no match:

    • Failure prompt is played

    • Caller is prompted again (repeat until timeout)

  5. If input still not recognised, system falls back to the standard IVR (DTMF) prompt

⚠️ Note: The AI Auto Attendant only accepts voice input. It does not support DTMF input during the voice recognition phase.


⚙️ Setup Tips

  • Match each spoken keyword (e.g. "sales", "support", "accounts") to a destination extension

  • Keep prompts clear and simple

  • Test your voice recognition flow before going live
