FritzBox 7430

Here’s how to set up a Fritz!Box 7430 for use with Kiwi VoIP.

1️⃣ Reset & Access the Fritz!Box

  1. Factory Reset (optional but recommended):

    • Hold the Reset button (or press via UI) for 10 seconds until the LEDs flash.

  2. Connect your PC/laptop to the Fritz!Box via LAN cable or Wi-Fi.

    • Default Wi-Fi SSID & password are printed on the bottom.

  3. Log In:

    • Open a browser and go to http://fritz.box or 192.168.178.1

    • Default password is printed on the bottom of the unit.

2️⃣ Set Internet Connection (DHCP)

  1. Go to InternetAccount Information.

  2. Choose Connection via DSL (if you’re using VDSL/ADSL) or LAN 1 (if the Fritz!Box is behind another modem or ONT).

  3. If using LAN 1 / Fibre / Starlink:

    • Select Internet connection via LAN 1.

    • Set Always keep internet connection to Yes.

  4. Save settings — internet should now be active.

2️⃣ Set Internet Connection — PPPoE with VLAN 10

  1. Go to InternetAccount Information.

  2. Under Connection:

    • Select Connection via LAN 1.

  3. Under Account Information:

    • Internet Service Provider: Select Other Internet Service Provider.

    • Connection Type: PPPoE.

    • Username: Provided by your ISP (Kiwi VoIP if they’re supplying the internet, or your third-party provider).

    • Password: As above.

  4. VLAN Settings:

    • Tick Use VLAN for internet access.

    • VLAN ID: 10

    • Priority: 0 (leave as default unless told otherwise).

  5. Connection Settings:

    • Keep Internet connection always on: Yes.

    • MTU: 1492 (default for PPPoE).

  6. Save settings — the Fritz!Box should now authenticate via PPPoE and tag VLAN 10 on the WAN.

3️⃣ Phoneline - Configure Kiwi VoIP Account

  1. Go to TelephonyTelephone NumbersNew Telephone Number.

  2. Telephone Number tab:

    • Connection: Other provider

    • Telephone Number for Registration: Your Kiwi VoIP number (no spaces)

    • Internal Telephone Number: Same as above

    • Account Information:

      • Username: Provided by Kiwi VoIP (often your full number)

      • Password: Provided by Kiwi VoIP

      • Registrar: sip.kiwivoip.co.nz

      • Proxy Server: sip.kiwivoip.co.nz

      • Port: 5060

  3. Advanced Settings:

    • DTMF Transmission: RFC2833

    • Registration Interval: 180 seconds

    • STUN Server: stun.kiwivoip.co.nz (optional, usually not needed if direct connection)

  4. Save & Apply.


4️⃣ Set Call Routing

  1. Go to Telephony Devices → Assign your Kiwi VoIP number to your phones.

  2. In Outgoing Calls, set the Kiwi VoIP number as default.

  3. In Incoming Calls, assign the number to ring desired devices.
