How to Send an SMS from the 3CX App

Sending a text from your 3CX softphone (mobile or desktop) is super easy. Just follow these quick steps 👇

1️⃣ Open the 3CX App

  • Available on 📱 iPhone / Android or 💻 Windows / Mac.

  • Make sure you're logged in.

2️⃣ Go to "Chat" 💬

  • In the bottom menu (mobile) or left menu (desktop).

  • Tap or click Chat.

3️⃣ Start a New Message

  • Select ➕ New Chat or Compose.

  • Choose Sned SMS

    If you don’t see this option, SMS may not be enabled for your extension — contact Kiwi VoIP.

4️⃣ Enter the Mobile Number

  • Type the number in full (e.g. 0212345678).

  • Do not add +64 — just dial like you normally would from NZ.

5️⃣ Type Your Message & Send 🚀

  • Write your text.

  • Hit Send ▶️

You’re done! 🎉

🔎 Tips & Troubleshooting

👍 Works When ❌ Won’t Work If
SMS is enabled on your 3CX extension SMS isn't provisioned
You choose Send SMS chat You accidentally choose internal chat
You enter a valid NZ mobile number You add +64 or extra spaces

📌 SMS appears within your 3CX chat history — you can reply to inbound texts the same way.
